The GELFREE 8100 Fractionation Station is a commercial system developed for fractionation of proteins based on their molecular weight as well as for liquid phase recovery. It performs partitions of complex protein mixtures and converts them into liquid-phase molecular weight fractions.

The GELFREE 8100 Fractionation Station is an independent easy-to-control device. It has got an eight-channel electrophoretic supply used for the GELFREE 8100 Cartridges. As per the user requirement, this Station can be programmed to provide specific voltage to each of these eight independent channels. Protein fractions can be collected by introducing pauses within the Station’s operation.
Convenience

The GELFREE 8100 Fractionation Station has got a Graphical User Interface with Intuitive Touch Controls which is quite easy-to-use and self-explanatory. As per their requirements, users can select the fractionation sequence for target protein enrichment and broad mass range analyte fractionation. The Touch Screen Panel provides real-time feedback of the current status and voltage applied to each channel.

How It Works

GELFREE technology is the abbreviation of “Gel-eluted Liquid Fraction Entrapment Electrophoresis”. All the eight cartridge channels of the Fractionation Cartridge comprise of precision-cast gel columns which are surrounded by fraction collection chambers and pipette-accessible sample loading. Sample mixing is done with the help of pre-formulated Sample Buffer. The mixed samples are then carefully pipetted in the sample loading chambers.

On application of the electric current to the cartridge, charged molecules will migrate first within the stacking gel. Later with time, they get separated based on their molecular weight, SDS or electrophoretic mobility. Smaller proteins move faster and are separated into the fractionation collection chamber. These smaller proteins are the quickly trapped within a defined liquid volume.

This way the instrument will pause at the pre-defined intervals where the liquid can be easily removed using a pipette.
Storage Requirements and Precautions

• Minimum recommended storage space is 24” W x 24” D x 18” H with 8” of unobstructed space behind the instrument.
• Works and high voltage power supply and comprise of sensitive electronics. Should be taken care from moisture, electromagnetic interference and extreme temperature volatility.
• Fans at the back of the instrument should be exposed to open air for proper heat dissipation. Maintain proper airflow to avoid over heating of instrument.
