Polymer Laboratories supplies a high performance, cost-effective pump for HPLC/GPC, the PL-LC1150 quaternary gradient pump. The pump provides stable, reproducible flow, and is designed to ensure accurate, reliable chromatography time after time. The pump is equipped with a touch sensitive membrane keypad for easy operation with rapid programming.

 

The PL-LC1150 pump features a low internal volume, making it ideal for high performance, reliable gradient HPLC.

 

The PL-LC1150 solvent delivery system utilizes a unique, variable piston stroke mechanism which matches the volume swept by the piston with the flow rate, to keep pressure and flow variation to an absolute minimum. The solvent volume delivered per stroke varies between 16 and 100 µl.

 

A key design feature of the PL-LC1150 pump is the free-floating pistons with a seal wash facility which minimises seal wear, reducing the expense and minimising down time. The system only requires two check valves, reducing operating costs and the possibility of component problems.

 

The quaternary PL-LC1150 can store and recall up to ten methods with touch function keys. Methods are available which allow the pump to be programmed to start, run and shutdown automatically. The shutdown facility is extremely useful for conserving solvent. Alternatively, the pump can be automatically equilibrated prior to a particular day's analysis, saving valuable time. New methods can be created quickly and conveniently, even during a run.

 

The individual solvent valves are carefully matched to each pump to ensure the solvent composition is precise and accurate. The internal volume is kept to a minimal 700 µl and an integrated high efficiency mixer gives sharp, reproducible gradients. The variable volume delivery ensures the correct composition is delivered to the column with each piston stroke. For ultimate accuracy in linear, convex or concave gradient formation, a specially derived algorithm splits the largest solvent component into two parts, placing the smaller component at the centre of the solvent volume delivered by each piston stroke.
