Gallenkamp Auto Flash AF3 Description
Gallenkamp has been manufacturing automatic flash point test equipment for many years. This instrument has been developed by Gallenkamp from the earlier, highly successful, Autoflash models. It has been designed and tested with the help of users. The result is an instrument of compact, robust design and high quality which is reliable, accurate, easy to maintain and keep clean, extremely user friendly, and amazingly simple to use. Ideal for the busy laboratory where good laboratory practice is essential.
- OPERATES STRICTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D93-IP34, ISO 2719, DIN 51 758, BS2000- PART 34
- MICROPROCESSOR CONTROL CIRCUITRY AND SIMPLE OPERATION GIVE EASIER USE AND CALIBRATION
- SIGNIFICANT COST AND LABOUR SAVINGS ACHIEVED THROUGH GOOD DESIGN AND AUTOMATIC OPERATION
- THE WIPE CLEAN CONTROL PANEL PREVENTS SPILLAGE CONTACTING THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS
- LARGE DIGITAL DISPLAY OF SAMPLE AND FLASHPOINT TEMPERATURE FOR ERROR FREE READING
- ELECTRONIC ERROR DETECTION TELLS YOU WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT
- TEMPERATURE RANGE FROM 0C TO 399C (00F TO 7500F)
Gallenkamp Auto Flash AF3 Application
The AF3 is an automated apparatus for the precise determination of flashpoints by the Pensky-Martens closed cup method as described in ASTM D93-1P3 and other specifications. It is designed for use with liquid petroleum products, solvents, vegetable oils and similar products. Approximately 70ml of sample is required for each test.

The apparatus is housed in two separate sections. They can be connected one on top of the other to save bench space. Alternatively the test unit can be placed remotely in a fume cupboard, important when noxious substances are being tested. The larger unit is the test unit housing the mechanical parts. Excellent draught protection ensures reliable operation. The smaller control unit contains the microprocessor electronics. Isolating the electronics in this way protects the control circuitry against spillage. Accuracy and repeatability of results is assured with the AF3. The microprocessor gives close control of all moving mechanical parts. Positive electronic flash detection means no missed or indeterminate flashes.
Gallenkamp Auto Flash AF3 - Simple to Use
When the expected flash point is approached, the flame dipping cycle starts automatically and continues until a flash occurs. There is a safety cut-out if no flash is detected within the specified limits. Once a flash has been detected, the large easy-to-read display is frozen and the heating block is cooled in readiness for the next test. This ensures a speedy change over from sample to sample. The result of the previous test can be recalled for quick comparison.
A search facility is available. This causes the flame dipping cycle to occur at all temperatures from ambient to flash point. This is particularly useful for testing unknown or contaminated samples. A rapid heat facility is also fitted. When this is used, the sample is initially heated at a higher rate than normal. This results in a faster test when determining high temperature flashpoints.
